Sushi is my love language. I could eat it 365 days a year and still want more 👀🍣
Over the years, I’ve tried quite a few spots across Monmouth County, and I tend to stay loyal to my favorites. This list is a love letter to the ones I return to again and again. 💌
If your go-to isn’t on here, please drop it in the comments, I’m always ready to discover a new roll (or ten).
#5 – Yumi (Sea Bright + Red Bank)
A favorite for many, and while it’s not my personal number one, it’s always a solid meal. The Asian fusion menu is excellent, and their sushi pizza is honestly perfect. It’s a little pricier than my go-tos, which knocks it down a notch for me, but it is certainly delish.
#4 – Teak (Red Bank)
Teak wins points for creativity. Their Black Mamba roll is unlike anything I’ve had. Black rice, shrimp tempura, avocado, banana (yes, banana!), spicy lobster, tempura crunch, spicy eel sauce... it sounds chaotic, but trust me, it works. It’s not an everyday roll, but when the craving strikes, nothing else will do. 🍌
#3 – Fuku (Hazlet)
Fuku has that laid-back vibe I love, and their takeout is consistently great. Fresh fish, great roll variety, and they put too much on the rolls, one of my sushi pet peeves. Bonus: their interior is super cute for a casual dinner.
#2 – Kanji (Tinton Falls)
Kanji is iconic. I’ve been going for 15+ years and have literally never had a bad meal. Their specialty rolls are on another level. Get the Spring Breeze, Century 21, and Volcano rolls and thank me later. The space is beautiful, and it’s great for large groups!
#1 – Sogo Sushi (Red Bank)
My forever favorite. A cozy little spot across from Teak, Sogo serves the freshest sushi in Monmouth County, hands down. Everything is made with brown rice, and it’s so light and flavorful, I never get tired of it. Perfect for date night, solo lunches, or anytime you want to feel like a regular. 🫶🏻 The owners are the loveliest humans, the lunch special is unbeatable, and I’ll always order the Yummy roll.
Thanks for coming to my sushi TED Talk! Where should I try next?
