Brain Dump Journal Entry: Government Shutdown, Social Media, Mick Jagger, & Harry Styles, Oh My!

Good morning, world! It looks like the longest government shutdown in history is slated to end today. We’ll see about that! So hard to tell these days what’s real and what’s not. There is so much noise out there, it’s deafening. I’m not sure how any of us accomplish anything in a day with so many distractions.

I know for one that it makes it incredibly hard for me to be focused or maintain a certain level of peace. My mind is cluttered with useless information. I’m trying to be more mindful of the bullshit that social media throws at me every time I open the app. Buy this for your house, buy this for your hair, try this hack to save some time to spend more time on your phone, be mad at your neighbor, be mad at the government, be mad at everyone but yourself, because hey, you’re just a girl after all.

You can make yourself prettier, younger, more stylish, more motherly, more boss-like, more chef-like, more “off-the-grid” like, if you just watch my video and help me make money. It’s a brutal reality check; no one on social media has your best interest at heart, it’s all about promoting their own agenda. I’m having a hard time keeping/deleting my own pages. What’s right for me, for my career, for my family/friends? Who knows, definitely not me!

Side note (as I am easily distracted these days): They just showed a clip of the New Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on the Today Show, and it got me thinking….Harry Styles will be up there one day looking like Mick Jagger, and our grandkids will be confused watching us foam at the mouth at the wrinkly old man jumping around on TV.

Harry Styles will forever be beautiful to us, which should serve as a reminder that we will all remain forever beautiful to those who truly love us, too.
